Not sure. Could you post a copy of your weblayout/appdef?

Scrub out whatever sensitive bits if needed, I'm only interested in the
menu/toolbar layout.

The problem is the vertical text css in the sidebar template which does not
scale with the size of the label. Anything beyond 5-6 characters and the
problem begins to show, as is the case of the appdef you provided.

I'm looking at alternative CSS solutions.
